Page 1 of 2 Recent Book Titles: The Total Person and Junebug and Friends: Hide and SeekBiographical Sketch:Anthony Walker was born and raised in Columbus Georgia. Similar to the esteemed contemporary authors of the twenty first century, his writing style is personable, yet informative. His writing style is so versatile that you can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds. He proves this by introducing two of his most recent works, The Total Person and Junebug and Friends: Hide and Seek. THE INTERVIEWRunway: Tell us all about you, the author. And then tell us about the person behind the author. Christian. Husband. Father. Son. Brother. Friend… I am all of these things and more. I am a native of Columbus, Georgia, where I live with my wife - Renee, and children - Erica and Brandon. Growing up, I often used my imagination to daydream. Today, I use it to dream. My creative gift / talent have led me to write poetry, songs, children stories, and inspirational/motivational books. My desire is to entertain, educate and touch the readers in positive ways, feeding their mind with messages of hope, encouragement and a spiritual following. Anthony Walker Runway: How long have you been writing and what has the experience been like for you? In secret, I have been writing since pre-teen. It was an outlet for me. I was an introvert, so creative writing allowed me to express myself, even if no one read what I wrote. Now that I am older and more open, I allow my writing to show people who I am on the inside. After realizing how much people enjoyed my thoughts on paper, I became encouraged to pen more and more writings. The experience is fulfilling. Runway: We like to show support to those who motivate, support, and push us. Please identify any of the people who have helped you on your journey to become a writer. My number one cheerleader is none other than my wife (Renee). She has always been my supporter. She was responsible for me finishing my first book, “The Total Person.” It would still be on the shelf, if not for her. Also, I would have to say that some of my friends encouraged me, and made me believe in myself as a writer. Runway: What is your writing process like and how did you come up with your style of writing? Do you write full time or part time? To be honest, I don’t have a set process. When an inspiring thought hits me, I write it down. Sometimes it is in the form of notes, and other times I am inspired and full of ideas, phrases and complete information. When I am in the zone, everything flows to the point where I am writing for hours. I don’t have a style of writing, unless you consider “simple” to be a style. I write so that it is not above any potential reader’s comprehension. Why write it, if no one can understand your message? I wish I could write full time; part time even. With a full time job, church, family, etc., it’s more like spare time, but when it’s in you, you make time to do it. Runway: How do you come up with the titles for your books? Tell us about them? The title has to summarize the contents of the book. The Total Person is the title of my first Inspirational book. However, its original title, while I was writing it, was Ant-Like Habits. I was comparing the marvelous attributes of an ant to that of humans and their behavior. As the manuscript evolved, it made a 360 degree change. It became more and more faith based. It began to focus on self-improvement, mind, body and spirit. This change resulted in the changing of the book’s title. Mind, body and spirit represents completeness, hence The Total Person. Junebug and Friends titled stories are easy. The stories are about the titles. I came up with the titles first, and then wrote the stories based on the titles. Runway: Ah, the popular Children’s book, Junebug and Friends: Hide and Seek. The Total Person is so serious and life defining, what motivated you to do a children’s book right behind it? Again, it was my wife that motivated me, and suggested that I make “Junebug and Friends” a children’s book. I use to make up stories about Junebug and Friends to tell my kids, as we would travel in the car. Renee told me that other people’s children needed to hear those stories. On another note, society seems to have gotten away from the basics. Reading is fundamental, but some of the children’s literature that’s out there today, is just not wholesome. I wanted to provide positive, clean and spiritual fun reading.
